Lamar Stuckert III
July 22, 1951 - March 8, 2022

James Lamar Stuckert III, 70, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 8, 2022, at his home in Barry, Texas.

Lamar was preceded in death by his parents, Jacqueline O. and James Lamar Stuckert, Jr., and one sister, Janice Stuckert Shook.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 20 years, Kathleen, and their blended family of nine children: Jennifer Stuckert-Knapp; Lauren Stuckert; James Lamar Stuckert IV; Joe Stuckert; Mary Stuckert; Will Stuckert; Luke Ward; Jami Ward; and Mike Ward. Known for his wry sense of humor, Lamar was affectionally nicknamed "Grumps" by his ten grandchildren.

After a long career in computer technology, and with childhood memories of the family farm, Lamar moved to rural acreage near Corsicana. There he enjoyed surveying the property with an eye to conquering unwanted brush. He also had a love for beekeeping. He built raised garden beds that protected abundant crops from a variety of garden predators. Whenever Lamar was outdoors, rescue dog Millie by his side, he was trailed by his small herd of adoring cats and dogs. The son of a home builder, Lamar practiced his considerable carpentry skills on extensive self-designed home remodeling. For the last few years he was joined in various projects by his 7-year-old granddaughter Victoria, who eagerly learned while freely sharing her imaginative and cheerful viewpoint.

Having inherited an avid interest in his family's history, Lamar researched his Texas roots with such appreciation that he named his youngest son Will in honor of his great, great grandfather.

Lamar will be greatly missed by his surviving sisters Joanne Turner, Jennie Stuckert, Jill Walker, brother Jeff Stuckert, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A private memorial will be held March 18, 2022.

I went thru elementary school, and junior high and high school with Lamar. He was basically a really good guy and a hell of an athlete. I last saw him in 2004 for an elementary school reunion for St. Andrews.

Rest In Peace.

Lamar and I met at St. Andrew's School in 6th grade and became best of buddies. My affection for him never wavered. He was always fun and funny, a great athlete (football, basketball, baseball, etc.) and his dad, mom, and siblings were always on the go. They opened their welcoming home and lives to me and so many others. The beauty of the Stuckerts' hospitality was something to behold.

It was a real gift to me when in the late 70's Cathy and I moved to Dallas and I reconnected with Lamar and his wife and children. It was so good to get to meet him from time to time for lunch and to visit him and his gang in their home. He was working in computers and from what I could tell, was doing very well. But then, Lamar always did everything well.

Through the years and miles I have continued to have Lamar on my mind and in my heart and prayers. I love this guy and am grateful to have been one of his many friends and to have shared some very special life times with him.

I feel a loss, as you probably do, too, that he doesn't walk this earth like he has for the past 70 years. But, I have no doubt that in the lives of his children and grands and many, many friends, Lamar is still with us. I look forward to seeing him again one day. It will be another good day with Lamar when that happens.

God's comfort on his many family members. And thanks be to God for this special, special friend.
