John Nestor

J.A. Nestor, 54, died Sunday, April 9, 2006.  John was born June 21, 1951 and raised in Fort Worth, but moved to Austin to attend and later graduate from the University of Texas.

In Austin, J.A. was known as:
"Julia Allison Nestor, a Fort Worth girl who got to Austin as quickly as she could. Julie was full of life, laughter, and love. She was a UT (hook'em horns) graduate, and a devoted foodie. She leaves us with memories of a hard-fought, courageous, and oft times lonely battle to become the woman she dreamed of becoming. Those who will miss her; her beloved partner, Deidra Holland, and her daughter, Terry; her twin daughters, Stacy and Angela; her sister Jan; her brother Jeff, and Leah, her grandsons, Alexander (Scooter) and Austin; and her twin nieces, Bailee and Kacee, and her wonderful friends. "Beware the Mare" Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 11, 2006 at Austin Memorial Park. "

As Julie, she acquired quite a bit of local fame in Austin via KISS radio station as a sort of regular contributing on-air personality.  Julie enjoyed appearing on TV and radio shows & in magazine articles telling her trans-gender story.  She did not have many years (maybe just a few) before being diagnosed with kidney cancer.  Julie did not last but maybe 2 or 3 months.

This is a combination of Austin American Statesman and Star Telegram Obituaries along with a bit of John/Julia's life as told to and by Virginia Hayes Presnell.
