Phillip Alan Thomas died peacefully Monday evening, Dec. 13, 2010, during his 60th year. Service: 2 p.m. Thursday at Arborlawn United Methodist Church. The Rev. Ben Disney, senior minister of the church, and the Rev. Mike McKee, First United Methodist Church of Hurst, will officiate. Phil will be laid to rest with his parents in Greenwood Memorial Park. He will lie in state on Wednesday in the Parlor at Robertson Mueller Harper. His family will receive friends at the home. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, consideration of contributions to Cook Children's Medical Center, in his memory, is suggested. A native and life resident of Fort Worth, Phil was born July 30, 1950, the son of Curtis and Theresa Lampe Thomas. He was a graduate of R.L. Paschal High School and Texas Wesleyan College. Phil and his dad and brother owned and operated Thomas Steel Drums and Dallas Steel Drums. He also operated "The Hills of Ivan and Four T's" ranches. He was a member of Colonial Country Club where he served on the Board of Governors. He also served as chairman for four years of the Colonial golf tournament and was a member of the "Pride of the Plaid." Active in civic and community affairs, Phil was a member of the Fort Worth Stock Show Syndicate and the Air Power Council. He also served on the board of Harris Methodist Hospital. Survivors: In addition to his wife of 37 years, Trish McInnis Thomas, whom he married on June 30, 1973, Phil is survived by his son, Barrett Thomas and his wife, Kristi; daughter, Kristen Thomas; grandchildren, Jacob and Sydney; brother, Stan Thomas and his wife, Rinda; brother-in-law, Roger "Butch" McInnis and his wife, Susan; and nieces and nephews and their families.
